Thesis
A flood is an excessive volume of water that hits a large area of land. Floods usually occur due to heavy rain over a long period of time. Schools should be cancelled during floods because flood conditions interfere with the safety and well-being of students and teaching staff. This condition must have undergone prior consideration.
**Artumentative Paragraph 1:**
Floods often cause roads to become waterlogged, making it difficult for students and school staff to travel safely. Stagnant water can be a hazard for those who have to walk or use public transport to reach school. In addition, swift water currents can also threaten the safety of students trying to cross the road.
**Argumentative Paragraph 2:**
If the main purpose of the school holiday was to reduce the risk of flooding on the way to school, it would not have had any effect on students who had already left earlier. The announcement of the school holiday was very sudden. Students have already struggled through the floods to get to school. This distress multiplied when they arrived at school, the school was cancelled. Students were very disappointed and wary of having to pass through the streets again. This can happen because of the lack of communication between teachers and the office. The office is not quick enough in terms of this policy.
**Argumentative Paragraph 3:**
The school is not closed, but is doing online learning. Students are given assignments from school to do within a certain time limit. This policy has created pros and cons. Those who agree argue that this assignment is very effective to make up for the lack of learning time. Those who disagree argue that the assignment is very burdensome for students whose homes are directly affected by the flood. Moreover, there is an unreasonable time limit, such as it must be collected as soon as possible, if it is late to collect it, the grade will be deducted. Very selfish I guess. Students are also not explained in advance the material suddenly given a question assignment and told to answer it. Automatically makes students confused.
**Conclusion:**
Taking into account the dangers posed by flooding to the safety, infrastructure and health of students and staff, it is a wise decision to close the school during periods of flooding. This will not only protect them from potential physical harm, but also ensure a safe and conducive learning environment once the flood conditions subside. This learning must also be prepared in such a way that learning can run comfortably, safely and conducively.
