Waste in My School

Waste is unwanted, unused, or used-up material that is usually discarded. Waste can be of various types, including organic (food waste), inorganic (plastic, paper, and metal) or toxic materials (batteries, chemical waste, and toxic materials). Waste is a complex phenomenon that deserves serious attention considering the many impacts caused by waste.

SMKN 4 Semarang is one of the famous schools in Semarang City. With so many people coming to SMKN 4 Semarang, a lot of waste is also generated. The school has provided trash bins according to its type. However, students do not seem to understand the importance of maintaining cleanliness. There are still corners of the classroom that are covered with garbage. The accumulated garbage can interfere with teaching and learning activities. The school community also still disposes of garbage not in the trash can.

The cause of garbage piling up is the use of disposable packaging items such as plastic bottles, food packaging, and paper. School policies are also very influential. The school's inability to manage waste properly, the lack of trash bins, and the school's lack of assertiveness towards certain individuals. If this is not addressed immediately, the waste at SMKN 4 Semarang will increase.

The waste problem should not be taken lightly. It needs to be addressed with policy changes, awareness raising, and infrastructure improvements being key in reducing the amount of waste in the school.
